Can Chocolate Actually Help Your Skin?

Hey you
I Thought Chocolate Was Wrecking My Skin—Turns Out, It Was Helping.
No one told me to quit chocolate.
But the minute I searched “adult acne” on TikTok or Instagram, the internet handed me a glowing green smoothie and told me to give up sugar.
And when they say sugar, they usually mean chocolate.
But was chocolate really part of the problem? Because here’s the thing—when most people say “chocolate,” they’re talking about candy: Cadbury, Nestlé, Mars… you know, sugar bars with a vague cocoa whisper.
They’re not talking about bean-to-bar chocolate made with real cacao and natural ingredients—and they’re definitely not talking about cacao butter as a skincare MVP.
Let’s get something straight: no, chocolate didn’t give you acne.
I know, I know—TikTok told you to give up sugar, Instagram said chocolate was toxic, and that one wellness influencer said you need to detox your face with kale.
But what if we’ve been blaming the wrong thing all along?
This week, I’m sharing my personal journey with adult acne, stress, hormones, and how I found my glow with:
✔️ A simple natural skincare routine (hello, rosehip oil & cacao butter)
✔️ Some solid food science
✔️ And yes... really good chocolate
Let’s bust the myth that chocolate = breakouts. Spoiler: real cacao might just be your skin’s new BFF.
